We are West Malling Community Choir, an inclusive and friendly musical group, formed to bring local people together to enjoy singing and making music.
We have been going since February 2012 after an appeal to see if a choir would be popular with people from the local community. The response was amazing with a massive turn-out for the first session and after a short trial the members voted to carry on and West Malling Community choir become a permanent fixture. We now have around 120 people on our books and 60-100 people come along on a weekly basis to sing together.
We are performing at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 15th April with the amazing Music Man project where we will be part of the massed choir supporting students from the Music Man project. It’s going to be an amazing concert so please come and see us! Tickets available from the Royal Albert Hall Box Office: Buy Tickets!
We put on a number of concerts during the year, some of our own, some jointly with other musical organisations and usually in the community such as turning on the Christmas lights in West Malling or in a charity event such as the Summer Open Air Festival at Spadeworks in Offham. In 2016 we sang in both Rochester and Canterbury Cathedral and in 2017 we made our debut in London at the Brandenberg festival. In 2019 we are going to be singing in the Albert Hall! It’s a challenge to have something to work towards and although performing in public isn’t for everyone, it’s great fun, if not a little scary!
We currently have a waiting list for new members as we are desperately running out of room at the Baptist Church and so if you fancy joining us then please look at our Joining Page and get in contact to get yourself on the waiting list.
