Spadeworks were the host for anon the evening of Saturday 6th July and the West Malling Community Choir went along to help with the entertainment. It was an amazingly sunny day and the concert began in late afternoon to take advantage of the long beautiful summer evening. The audience arrived with picnic chairs and blankets and settled down to enjoy the songs from the choir and some jazzy tunes from a student saxaphone quartet.
Spadeworks is a charity based in Offham who help adults with special needs work towards independence through training, support and work experience. On Saturday the nursery, shop and cafe were all open selling goods and wonderful refreshments along with and fizzy fresh elderflower presse – simply divine!
West Malling choir were able to join in the fun and enjoy a picnic whilst listening to the saxaphones and then took to the stage (lovingly built by members of the choir beforehand!) to sing a couple of sets of fun and summery tunes as the audience relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine.
It was a beautiful evening and the choir received some great feedback from the audience. We are now hoping that this will become an annual event.
