It’s Christmas! The choir had a fantastic day today when they took part in the newly launched West Malling Christmas Festival. After singing in the rain last year, this years event was so much bigger and better than ever before with a big stage set up in the centre of town and local groups and acts performing from noon through to when the Christmas lights were turned on at 5pm.
We took to the stage to lovely big crowds just as it was getting dark at around 4.30pm and sang four of our new Christmas songs. We began with ‘Away in a Manger’ set to an alternative tune to normal, followed up with ‘Sing it high, sing it low’. The onto one of our favourites, the lovely ‘He is born’ and then ‘The Virgin Mary had a baby boy’ as our grand finale. It all went really well and the crowd seemed to enjoy it – especially interesting was our final song as we’d only learnt the ending and managed to sing it all the way through in the rehearsal a few days before!!
A big congratulations to West Malling on putting on such a wonderful Christmas Festival and attracting such large crowds. The lights were turned on at 5pm and the choir took to the stage once more to sing some carols as people began to make their way home.
So Christmas is on the way! Want some more? Come along to our Christmas concert in St. Mary’s Church, West Malling on Sunday 8th December at 5pm.
