Firstly we wish all members and friends of West Malling Community Choir our very best wishes and hope that you and your families are staying well and keeping healthy in these trying and difficult times.
WMCC have been busy this year meeting up remotely by Zoom for their Tuesday night rehearsals as well as having lots of theme nights and charity Quiz Nights raising lots of money for some of our favourite causes.
We were thrilled to hold our first trial Covid-19-safe rehearsal in Ditton Community Centre on the 3rd November – two days before we went back into the 2nd lockdown!!
Our amazing committee spent a long time planning, doing risk-assessments, buying new protective equipment and liaising with Ditton Community Centre to find a way for a limited number of the choir to meet up and sing in person, with the rest of the choir viewing and joining in via Zoom.
The trial was really positive and it was so amazing for those who attended to sing together as a group – even if it was into singing face masks. It raised a few logistical problems with things like WIFI coverage which will be addressed when we are next allowed to physically meet. It gave us great hope that we will eventually be able to allow larger numbers of our members to meet up, all socially distanced or course, but in a Covid-19 safe way, to allow us to sing together.
However, until then we continue to meet remotely on Zoom and hope that we will be able to meet again properly soon.
Until then – keep singing!
